How do I get my neighbors cats to stop from using my flower beds as a litter box?

she started letting them outside during the day and now they use my flower beds and parts of my yard as a litter box. is there any way to get them to stop. it really smells and attracts other cats from the neighborhood. i have asked her to keep an eye on them but that hasn't work. i need some suggestions before her cats disappear.

How do I get my neighbors cats to stop from using my flower beds as a litter box?
i have heard that u can put orange peels around the garden. cats dont like the smell of orange for some reason unknown and it's good for the enviroment too!! so it's a 2 in 1 benifeit! other than that u could spray orange stuff or go with what the others say too! i dont know if moth balls will owrk cuz we were told that how to get rid of shunks and we put tons out and we still couldn't get rid of them.
Reply:Put up a fence around your flower beds (tall enough the cat cant get in) or put chicken wire up to protect your plants.

Humane, cheap and wont effect your flowers.

Also, if this continues to happen call your local humane society-- your neighbor will get warned first and then ticketed.
Reply:You can put some smooth rocks over the top of the dirt in your flower beds, such as river rocks. Or cedar chips will often repell cats.

Also, it is hard, but talk to your neighbors. Perhaps your neighbor doesn't know that her cats are pooping in your flower bed, or that you don't like it. It seems like she should, but she may not.

Talk to her.
Reply:Sprinkle Cayenne in the flower bed. When the cats come sniffing around they'll make for the hills! It won't hurt the cat, just make it sneeze and leave your flower beds alone.
Reply:Ok

Get rat poison, then put out cat chow

BYE BYE KITTIESSSSSSSSSSS
Reply:you could always know what shes scared of and do that
Reply:My grandmother told me mothballs around your plants will keep cats away and it wouldn't hurt to put a few along your property line especially as close to your neighbor's house as you can, put a lot maybe the smell will cause them to keep their cats at home so you will remove the moth balls. Also throw hot water on them.
Reply:well...... do u have a cat? if u do does it have a litter box or does it go outside for that? if it goes outside then there is your problem.... try and get or make some scarecrows! ones that are really floppy and that move in the wind so that if a cat wants to get into your yard and then it sees the scarecrows it will b so scared especially if u r there too and u r waving a rake around. lol

hope i helped....i usually do.
Reply:Yes cayenne pepper just sprinkle it around (like fairy dust), that other stuff is crazy....chicken wire (pssshh).
Reply:wait and if u see them squirt them with water and cats hate water after a while they will understand that if they do that they get sprayed and will stop trying all together
Reply:I bet you get a lot of abuse - I did when asking a question about neighbour related pet problems. The generall thing was don`t be so petty, love thy neighbour, that sort of thing!

Pepper dust should deter the cats. Otherwise use a washing up liquid bottlle and squirt them with water - it doesn`t hurt them at all but just gets the message through,

Good luck, other peoples pet control or lack of it can be a reall problem.
Reply:well, you can go and buy the bitter apple stuff, and spray it near your plants. or put down some chicken wire around your plants. that will also keep the cats from digging. :) you can lay it on the surface, or just beneath it.
Reply:If you live near a park you could try planting catnip near a park , all of the cats will go crazy for it and pee at the place where you planed the catnip, yoiu could try this
Reply:I'm a hillbilly, redneck, good ole countryboy,or white trash with a degree so I dont think you really want my answer to this question but I know how you feel as I have had to deal with this kind of thing before.Cat's are a dime a dozen here in the appalachian mtns. a lot of people "accidental like" leave anti-freeze out in a pie pan,or we even try the old bb gun first, and of course the water gun or hose, and the everloved mothball. The best thing so far has been of course a $.03 22 LR bullet.
Reply:Set out a few steel traps like they use for raccoons and beavers. One misstep and Fluffy's on her way to kitty heaven, and your flower beds will never look better!
Reply:Cover the ground with cedar or rocks...that should deter them. It makes me sick how people feel violence or killing is the answer. It is not the cats fault that it has irresponsible owners.
Reply:I've heard a little bit of ammonia with a lot of water in a spray bottle. Spray it at them and they will remember.
Reply:i would grow some basil in the back maybe or somthing minty. cats HATE the smell of mint

squirt bottle works too.
Reply:exactly i really feel this one moth balls work put them under soil not far in when they smell it they wont go there it worked for me my kitty has a place that we take care of she doesnt mess in house but shes old and well trained but that lady sounds like my neighbor whose dogs dump in front of my house
