I remember this experiment from a v-tech computer when i was small. The experiment shows the ff: a flower and its root cut into 2 then put one root on a cup filled with water and the other in a cup of water filled with ink. Now I dont remember the part about what happened, all I remember was the word auxin in the summary.. PLZ HELP!!!!!!

well, if you put a cut flower into a vase containing ink it will soak up the ink and change the colour of the flower. e.g., put a white rose into a solution of red food dye and the rose will turn red or pink. works with most flowers and most colours of ink.
auxin really has nothing to do with flowers changing colour like in the example above. auxin is a hormone with MANY different roles in plant growth and development. one thing it does is promote the development of vascular tissue. you can take some undifferentiated plant tissue (callus), soak it in auxin and watch vascular bundles develop, eventually, this will allow the production of new shoots and roots from the callus.
auxin is also the hormone which controls branching in plants. at their growing tip (shoot meristem) plants produce auxin in the new, tiny leaves that form. this is transported down the stem and into the roots and along the way it inhibits the outgrowth of branches and side shoots. this is why gardeners pinch of the growing tip(s) of plants: it temporarily removes the source of auxin and allows side shoots to grow out, giving you a bushier plant.
hope this has partially answered your query: i don't think there's any link between auxin and flower colour change though!

About the experiment, when roots are submerged in a cup of water filled with ink, the endodermis cells in the roots will prevent the ink from entering the vascular tissues it surrounds. The roots will appear to have changed colour; however, if the ink is water soluble, as it passes through the root hairs and into the root, the cortex cells will soak up the ink. But if you cross section it, you will see that only the outer layer has been soaked with ink, while the inner layer where the endodermis surrounds will not take in the ink.
