How do you make a picture black and white but have a certain spot in color?
I could swear we did this a few weeks ago .. even with the same names.. LOL (lost my mind or having Deja-Vu )

They're right, you want to desaturate most of the image. (Saturation is how much color is in the photo, so desaturating it takes the color out. )

You simply select the area you want to desaturate .. use whatever tools you want. Paint brush, masking tools, frisket, lasso, magic wand .. however you want. (depends on what program you're going to use). When you select this area and desaturate it, it will turn to grayscale but the part you DIDN'T select will remain color
Reply:photoshop is the easiest program to do it.
Reply:If you have photoshop

1) Use the magnetic lasso tool to get a really tight fit around the flower and then when your'e done, seal the lasso

3) Go to...I think its SELECT at the top menu, and click "INVERSE" from the drop down. This should select everything BUT the flower

4) Go make the picture Black and White. (IMAGE%26gt;%26gt;Adjustments%26gt;%26gt;Desaturate)

5) This will make the rest of the picture black and white but leave the flower alone since its not selected

ENJOY =^D

*UPDATE*

GAH, I WROTE THIS THINKING THE PICTURE WAS IN COLOR!

I'm still gonna leave it as is b/c its good instructions, but to do what you're asking, just select the flower as stated above and it should only work with that part b/c that's all that's selected
Reply:This is called Selective Color.

Reply:basicallly it depends on what software you are using. if you're using photoshop or gimp, make a duplicate layer of your picture, then make the top layer black and white, either by desaturating the picture or by using a b%26amp;w gradient map (which is my personal preference). next, take your eraser tool, and with the black and white layer selected, erase the section that you want to be in color. this removes part of the b%26amp;w layer, allowing the color layer to show through. while this is easier to do with photoshop, you can do it on the gimp (which is a free photoshop equivilent software that you can download from www.gimp.org) it's a really easy process once you get the hang of it-good luck! :]
Reply:the steps in the first answer are what I was thinking too. If you do not have software to do that, you can download Ability PhotoPaint Studio at http://www.tucows.com . It's free and I found it pretty easy to figure out. Good luck.
