HELP! how do you color parts of a picture and have the rest black and white?
you have to use GIMP or GIMPshop. go download it.

then get a picture and select what you want to be in color. then go to SELECT and INVERSE and then go to edit i think and choose rdg color or something like that
Reply:You need a program that can handle Layers.

You duplicate the layer with the colored picture. Then change the Settings in Hue, Saturation.. to colorize and make it black and white. Then use the Eraser tool to take away the grayisch from that layer so that the colored layer under appears.
Reply:be sure they're the same texture, like colored pencils and markers dont match

it's easier to color on paper, then scan it to the comp
Reply:Gimp is a free program that works well for photo editing. The color mode is RGB color. Here is a link to another program. This works just like photoshop. http://www.splashup.com/

You will have to do 2 steps to get the desired outcome. Step 1 open the picture and set the mode to Greyscale. Save the B%26amp;W image as a JPEG. Save it somewhere you can access it quickly, for example desktop. Open the B%26amp;W image and color the part you want with the paint bruch. I usually use a new layer for the color incase I "get out of the lines" I can fix it without erasing the origional.
