What could I have done better with this photo?

I took this using my XTi rebel. I chose to manually focus because the auto focus kept focusing on other parts of the flower.

What could I have done better with this photo?
The composition is kinda boring, nothing I haven't seen before... overall, not too bad though.
Reply:While you did a nice job, it is basically a boring shot. Pumping up the contrast and saturation would help a bit as would putting the center of the rose in a less dead center position.
Reply:Actually you have discovered the key to good macro photography.





Put the lens in the manual mode and then fine focus by moving in and out with the camera





Be sure to use your depth of field preview to ensure you have what you want in focus.
Reply:i don't know if you coul do anything better with that image...it is very good. ofcourse i had to go and check out your other images. i like them... keep shooting keep showing. perhaps find a photog club or group to join and share in they are gobs of fun, and i learn alot from the one i'm in.
Reply:that was a really awesome photo. the only thing that needed to be nmore defined was the petals of the flower so that u had a very distibct contracst between light and dark, especially the yellow colour.
