How do I get plant stems that have broken off to grow roots so I can replant them?

I have a large Kalanchoe flower plant that has grown so much out of proportion that some stems have broken off due to its heaviness. I heard that you can save the broken off parts/stems by letting them grow roots in water and then replant them. I'm just not sure this can be done with this particular flower plant.

Is there a proper method to save the plant stems? They are large and FULL of flowers still...

Any experienced gardeners out there that could help me resolve this matter?

Many thanks! : )

Not familiar with this plant. You have several options to learn what work best. Cut the Bottom so it at a slight angle. Cut the top Flat across. The Stem be about Four inches long. Make as many of these as you wish. Stick them about 1 1/2 inches into good Potting Soil. If, you want, use a little "Rooting Hormone" on the part in the soil, but, I not feel it necessary. Keep Moist and Humid. Take a clear plastic bag, set pot inside water and close it, this your Humid. They will root and in time leaves will begin to sprout.

The water in a glass should work too. I just like the Above method best, plants seem more Vigorous.
Reply:Hormone powder
Reply:YOU HAVE THE IDEA AND YOU HEARD IT RIGHT TAKE THE STERMS AND BUT THEM IN WATER AND IT WILL TAKE THEM TIME A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THEY REROOT THEM SELVES TRANSPLANT THEM IN RICH POTTING SOIL
Reply:cut stem under a node ie were the leaves are then dip in hormone rooting powder and inseert into compost
Reply:I don't know about this plant but I've been very successful with cutting the broken end at an angle, (it drinks more water that way) and leaving it in water for a while, It works for me most of the time. I also remember that in FFA in high school we dipped the cut ends in rubbing alchohol and shook off the extra and planted them in rich soil. I don't know how well that will work for you.
